Snæfellsnes Peninsula Private Day Tour
We go from Reykjavik at 9am, heading west by the old main road via the beautiful fjord Hvalfjörður (Whalefjord) taking stopover at a local farm for a warm cup of coffee and traditional refreshments. We pass the small town Borgarnes where the houses are build on rocks and cliffs by the sea before we take a turn north to the peninsula where we will find small fishing villages, magnificent landscape and the powerful glacier Snæfellsjökull located in the national park. Snæfellsjökull is also known around the world for being the setting of Jules Verne´s „Journey to the Center of the Earth“. On the way we will see a landscape with old lava covered with moss and beautiful black sandy beaches with rocky surroundings and the ruff north Atlantic ocean all around. We stop in the beautiful village of Stykkishólmur with its colorful houses and magnificent surroundings for a lunch. We visit the magical Djúpalónssandur, Arnarstapi, Hellnar, Dritvík, get a sip from the magic spring water at Ölkelda, drive up to the glacier roots and enjoy the magnificent view from there. On our way home we drive through the sea tunnels to Reykjavik.
